 33. Hunter Link To Oaks Winner

12/06/2002

English Oaks winner Kessia has an interesting link to the NSW Hunter Valley through her sire German-based sire Zinaad.

Brian Russell reports that Zinaad is a three-quarter brother to Time Mill, a UK- bred stallion who began stud duty in Australia last year at Riverview Lodge Stud near Singleton in the Hunter Valley.

Zinaad and Time Mill are by by Mill Reef’s English Derby winner Shirley Heights.

Zinaad, a winner of the Newmarket Jockey Club Stakes, is a half-brother to the dam of Time Mill, who was only lightly raced due to injury but earned prizemoney in all his four appearances in England at three.

He is also a three-quarter brother to French Oaks placegetter Time Away,.from Not Before Time.

By Danzig’s champion son Polish Precedent, Not Before Time’s is out of Time Charter, winner of the English Oaks, Ascot King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and Coronation Cup.

The bottom line of the pedigree goes back to Neocracy, dam of the classic greats Tulyar and Saint Crespin.
