 16. Jade Hunter To Argentina

04/06/2002

Another stallion with a well-used passport is former Woodlands stud stallion Jade Hunter. The 18-year-old son of Mr. Prospector out of the Pharly mare Jadana will be earning more frequent flyer points as he jets off to Argentina for the 2002 southern hemisphere season.

JADE HUNTER
The sire of 32 stakes winners in North America including the Grade One winners Yagli, Stuka, and Diazo, Jade Hunter began his career at the late Allen Paulson’s Brookside Stud, Kentucky. He shuttled to New Zealand for one season in 1999 where he sired 1994 VRC Tristarc Stakes (G3) winner and later outstanding broodmare Procrastinate and the 1994 AJC Surround Stakes (G2) winner So Keen. Jade Hunter spent 3 years at Woodlands from 1995 to ’97 siring little of note and spent the 1996 northern hemisphere season at the Breeders Stallion Station, Japan.

Jade Hunter is currently riding high in the U.S. as the sire of star four-year old mare Azeri, a daughter of Australian stakes winner Zodiac Miss, winner of three straight Grade One races, the Santa Margarita Invitational H (G1), Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) and Milady Handicap (G1).
