 9. King's Best Not Retruning To Australia in 2002

01/07/2002

Darley Stud’s King's Best (Kingmambo) is making a good recovery from the injury that caused him to miss the latter part of the northern hemisphere breeding season. However, he will not now be shuttling to Australia this season.

KING'S BEST
'We're very pleased with his progress,' said Joe Osborne, director of Darley. 'We are expecting him to make a full recovery, given time to recuperate. But our vets are advising us against shuttling him this season. That said, we're confident he'll be able to go back to Darley Australia in 2003.'

Oliver Tait, manager of Darley Australia, said, 'King's Best has been immensely popular in Australia. Many breeders here have heard how impressive his first foals have been in the northern hemisphere and were looking forward to using him, so we're sorry to disappoint them. It's very pleasing that he's recovering, and we look forward to having him back next year.'

King’s Best had to undergo surgery to his off-fore, which was fractured in the Irish Derby two years ago and had recently been troubling him again.
