 64. BOBS Attracts 41 Stallion Nominations

23/07/2002

A total of 22 different nominators have put forward 41 stallions for the first year of the NSW Breeders Owners Bonus Scheme.

The studs who made the necessary payment of an amount equivalent to the advertised 1998 service fee of their stallions included Coolmore, Woodlands, Newhaven Park, Riverdene, Emirates, Widden and Arrowfield, a response that has pleased the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Board as their support was necessary to give the scheme some chance of reaching expectations in its first year.

"The TRB applauds the stallion owners for their good faith and foresight to join the scheme and believe they will be rewarded long-term,” said NSW TRB chief executive Merv Hill.

"Some 2,295 foals which turn three years of age on August 1 have been sired by the 41 stallions nominated into BOBS and are now eligible to be part of the scheme.”.

For these horses to be eligible, their owners musty pay a $660 nomination fee for each three-year-old prior to September 30.

Other stallionss can still be nominated but their payment will now be double their 1998 advertisied service fee.

The scheme commences from August 1 when eligible three-year-olds can win a bonus of $20,000 for winning on metropolitan Saturdays, $10,000 on metropolitan midweek and Public Holiday programs and $5000 at provincial meetings.
