 58. Rubiton sires trifecta in Sir John Monash Stakes

20/07/2002

Former top class galloper Rubiton scored a rare feat in the $100,000 Listed Sir John Monash Stakes 1000m at Caulfield today when he sired the trifecta in the race.

Rubiton (H 1983-Century-Ruby)

The under rated son of Century and the Seventh Hussar mare Ruby will commence his fifteenth season at stud at Blue Gum Farm in Victoria in the next six weeks and despite his continuing flow of good winners including many black type performers still stands at a fee of just $8,880 including G.S.T.
Today’s race was won by the Brian Mayfield-Smith trained Rubitano (G4 Rubiton-Mrs. Soffel) who was ridden to a 1 ¼ length win over the Robbie Lang trained Ruby Slipper (F3 Rubiton-Liberty Slipper) ridden by Damien Oliver with the same margin back to the Brian Mayfield-Smith trained Prince Rubiton (H5 Rubiton-My Muse) who was ridden by Steven King.
