After the brutal across the board declines at the Keeneland July Sale there was an air of relief when the opening session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Selected Yearling Sale finished on Wednesday. While the average dipped slightly from last year’s $97,402 to $95,199 the real tale of the tough market conditions was told by the pass-in rate of nearly 41%. 

BIANCONI 

The first 260 lots of the sale were devoted to the New Sire Showcase. It was a bay colt from the first crop of Airdre Stud’s Mazel Trick, a Grade 2 winning son of Clever Trick that emerged as the session topper. The chestnut colt out of the stakes-producing Private Account mare Private Dish was sold to Gary and Mary West Stables for $535,000. 
There was plenty of encouragement for two first season shuttle stallions Bianconi and Real Quiet. 

A colt by Collingrove Stud’s Bianconi out of the stakes producing Gold Stage mare Wellbustmybuttons sold to Overbrook farm for $235,000. A colt by Vinery Stud’s Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet out of the Akarad mare Third Party sold to agent Jack Goldthorpe for $200,000 while another colt by Real Quiet out of stakes winning Secretariat mare Tweak sold to agent Mohammed Moubarak for 110,000.
