 3. Musketeer Set To Fire In WA

01/07/2002

Musketeer, a record-breaking son of Danehill, has been snapped up for stud duty in Western Australia.

Musketeer was on the verge of going to stud in New Zealand when his owners accepted a better offer from WA breeder Branko Rudez.

Musketeer is currently at Rudez’ Henley Brook property but will be standing next spring at Melody Park Stud at Bindoon for $2500.

Musketeer was sold to Singapore for $800,000 after he won over 1800m in Ireland. He then set an 1800m record in Singapore and also went within 0.2sec. of setting another record when he won over 2000m when trained at Kranji by Michael Kent.

He retired with three wins and nine placings from 23 starts.

Musketeer is out of a Gone West mare and is bred on the same bloodlines as Lion Hunter, the boom Queensland-based stallion who is this season’s leading first crop sire.
