In Sydney We returned to Royal Randwick for an eight event card in Sydney at the weekend, with the highlight being the City of Sydney Australia Day Cup. TBNSW members recorded 3 winners, 3 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.
TBNSW members were off to a flying start with the trifecta in Race 1 the Royal Randwick Handicap when Magic Marvo (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Day County) bred by Mr I K Smith was successful from Spinning Con (Spinning World(USA)-Sounds Positive(NZ)) bred by Mr B J Macdonald with Huit (Octagonal(NZ)-Seika) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.
A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Korea Racing Association Trophy. Moolah (Canny Lad-Coin Case) bred by Woodlands Stud scored from Shoemaker (Celestial Bounty(IRE)-Slingbacks) bred by Mr R L and Mrs W B Ingram with Banker under Fire (NZ) (British Banker(CAN)-Lady Camilla(NZ)) in third place.
A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the New Tel Handicap when No Limit (Dr Grace(NZ)-Our Red Star) was successful from Spirit of the Nite(NZ) (Slavic(USA)-Breath of Life(NZ)) with Kalalycia (Kala Dancer(GB)-Sweet Flame) bred by Mr R C and Mrs A Ellis in third position.
It was back to the winner’s circle for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Star City Handicap when Treasure Time saluted. Treasure Time (Secret Savings(USA)-Zaghaareed(USA) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited won from Radiance of Apollo (Waajib(IRE)-Fast Work(NZ)) with Magic Duck (Magic Ring(IRE)-Mother’s Delight) third.
The City of Sydney Australia Day Cup a listed race over 2400 metres was Race 6 on the program. Power of Pegasus (Palace Music(USA)-Kylemore) was successful from Zareyev(NZ)(Zabeel(NZ)-Olga’s Pal(NZ)) with Lanolin (Marscay-Noelani(NZ)) in third position.
TBNSW members finished the day with second and third placings in Race 8 the Endeavour Handicap. Touch of Brose(NZ) (Gold Brose-Lightotouch(NZ)) scored from Almazam (Zamoff(NZ)-Steeple Ashton) bred by Mr G R Munro with Clear ‘n’ Out (Cossack Warrior-Lorenshine) bred by Mr HM and Mrs J C Munro in third place.
In Melbourne Caulfield was the venue for an eight event card on Saturday with the highlight being the Group 3 Australia Day Vase. TBNSW members recorded 2 winners (including the Group 3 event), 1 second placing and 2 third placings on the day.
TBNSW members opened their account with a winner in Race 5 the Chisholm Plate over 1200 metres for three-year-old fillies. Elegant Fashion (Danewin-Wily Trick) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited was successful from Betula (Encosta De Lago-Maritima) with Speaker (Success Express(USA)-Fair Contessa) in third position.
TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle again and provided the trifecta in the main event of the day the Group 3 Australia Day Vase. Dash for Cash (Secret Savings(USA)-Gulistan) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited scored from Barkada (Spectrum(IRE)-Biscotte) bred by Vinery Australia Pty Limited with Zonked (Zeditave-Red Coronet) bred by Mr R J Kelly in third place.
A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 8 the Macquarie Handicap. Mr Casanova (Suave Dancer(USA)-Red Chiffon) won from Classic Secret (Greig(NZ)-No Telling) with Waajib Star (Waajib(IRE)-Storm Moon) bred by Milburn Creek Thoroughbreds third.
In Brisbane Eagle Farm was the venue for an 8 event program in Queensland on Saturday. TBNSW members recorded 1 winner and 4 third placings on the day.
A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 2 the J C Clark Super QRIS Added Stakes Hanidcap. Stravain Lady (Strategic-Our Vain Lady) scored by 2¼ lengths from Origin Hero (Dantibes-Blushes) with The Bowral Batsman (Sir Laurence(NZ)-Velvet Whiskey) bred by P G and A J Hodges a nose back in third position.
It was third again for TBNSW members in Race 3 the J H Barnes Handicap when Winsted (Cossack Warrior-Brianza(NZ)) won by short neck from Planet King (Yonder(USA)-Pink Wedding) with Prince Starlight (Telesto(NZ)-Go Lightly) bred by Mr K J Burke a long neck away in third place.
Another third placing in Race 5 the W Kent Handicap for TBNSW members. Regal Tycoon (Flying Tycoon-Stolen Secret(NZ)) won by a head to Matty’s Girl (Salieri(USA)-Tunnalu) with Lucky Laurie (Sir Laurence(NZ)-Carbon Quote) bred by Miss A O Raymond 1¾ lengths away third.
TBNSW members provided the winner and a third placing in Race 7 the J M Gray-Buchanan Handicap. Etre Accorde (Marscay-Sovereign Field) bred by Mr Gerry Harvey won by 1¼ lengths from Turf Tiger (Manshood(CAN)-Renascent Star) with Sundial (Switch In Time(IRE)-Centollua) also bred by Mr Gerry Harvey a neck back in third position.
