The New Gold Coast Premier Sale With All The Right Incentives

Magic Millions latest new recruit to the 2002 sales programme is the new Gold Coast Premier Yearling Sale, 264 selected yearlings will go under the
hammer on the 3rd March 2002 at the Bundall Sales Complex on the Gold Coast.

With Graduates of the Gold Coast Premier Sale eligible for the Magic Millions $2.4 Million Dollar Race Series and yearlings on offer by the "hottest" sires around, there is plenty of incentive to purchase from this sale.

The opening of the catalogue to non QRIS horses has seen progeny of Rory's Jester, Thunder Gulch, Quest For Fame, Perugino and others add some "southern" flavour, but the interest is likely to centre around the "hot" Queenslanders - Lion Hunter being the torch bearer.

The brilliant son of Danehill, Lion Hunter has thirteen yearlings
representing him in the sale including a half-sister to JOSS STICKS the Group Two Newcastle Cup winner, and a half brother to stakes-placegetter Huntington Girl (the dam of DYNAMIC LOVE [AJC Stan Fox Stakes Gr.2], Arimathea and Grouse Lane).

Lion Hunter is the boom 2YO Sire in Australia this season and is likely to be the main attraction at the Gold Coast Premier Sale. Already the sire of 2002 Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Lovely Jubly.

Lion Hunter was a brilliant racehorse, it is little wonder he is such a success as a sire. Few who saw him will forget his blistering speed - it was only injury which prevented him from succeeding at the very highest level on the track.

Lion Hunter seems set to achieve lofty heights as a stallion, his progeny were admired from the moment they hit the ground and he seems likely to follow on, where ill fated Queensland Stallions Brave Warrior, St Covet, Alannon and Just Awesome left off.

Not that Lion Hunter will have it all his own way, the QRIS Scheme has led to substantial improvement in the Queensland stallion ranks.

Irgun another First Season Sire made a big impression in the USA and has continued his success here with Peter Moody's highly promising filly Brief Embrace Irgun's first runner in Australia and a Stakes-winner at her first start!. Irgun shuttles to Furlong Stud, and was the one time favorite for the Kentucky Derby, he had enormous racetrack ability but as with Lion
Hunter, he was prevented by injury of showing it on the track, now his progeny are doing it for him.

Victory Note is another shuttle stallion, he did get to prove his ability on the track with a brilliant win in the French 2000 Guineas. He is extremely popular in Ireland which is his home base and looks likely to prove popular here. His yearlings are good looking athletic animals who will appeal as early goers.

Sequalo is proving himself a very handy sire of winners with an impressive 23 winners of 32 races of the 53 starters in the 2001/2002 racing season. His progeny earnings at the time of writing sit at $344,532. Winners in the 2001/2002 racing season include Sandasta, Slick operator, Miss Thundercat, Qualo, Sharou, So Equal, Ballroom Queen, Caterer, Rafso, Sequality, Allez Joie, Pride Of Sequalo, Cabaru Queen, Difficult, Sequation, Grande Sequalo, Eye Catching, Waiter, Sequik, Miss Sequalo, Melrebem Lad, Magic Sequence, and Trisequal, etc. Impressive it certainly is, and Sequalo has seven yearlings representing him in the Gold Coast Premier Yearling Sale.

Admiralty is a first season sire with plenty of admirers, as the only son of the immortal Australian Champion Strawberry Road to stand at stud in Australia he is unique in his own right. His progeny are blessed with their fathers good looks and will be well received.

General Nediym has a representation of four yearlings at the Gold Coast Premier Yearling Sale. The brilliant racehorse proved highly popular at the Magic Millions January Sale and if looks are anything to go by these horses will run. Cast in the sprinting mould of their father they have quality, strength and will come to hand early.

Proven Sire Success Express is well represented in the sale with ten lots. The perennial sire continues to get top class horses - this season the impressive performer Patterns has been flying the flag for him.

Special Dane, like Lion Hunter, also a son of the immortal Danehill, has six of his first crop representing him at the sale. As a Group One Winner his chances of getting runners are high. There can be few better credentials in a stallion as present.
