17. TBV Stallion Raffle

  04/12/2001

The inaugural TBV Stallion nomination raffle proved a success. The stallions on offer included some of Victoria's finest:

  • Brief Truce,

  • Dangerous,

  • Lacryma Christi,

  • Dolphin Street and

  • Festival Hall.

The total value of the prizes was over $35,000.

The raffle was drawn on Feehan Stakes Day at Moonee Valley on September 15th.

The lucky winners were Geoff Dodson whose first selection was Brief Truce, Garth Grainger who collected the Dangerous nomination, ex president of TBV Robert Crabtree who won the Lacryma Cristi nomination, and a very lucky Richard Sims, advertising guru for Winning Post who won nominations to both Dolphin Street and Festival Hall.

Total healthy profit for TBV from the raffle was around $15,000, which will be utilised to promote the Melbourne Premier sale and to ensure that the key trainers and buyers are present.

As with all new ideas, getting them off the ground can be a bit rocky and slow at times. We are sure that next year's stallion nomination raffle will be met with great success and again the profit will go towards improving the Melbourne Premier sale.

Thank you to all those who donated stallion nominations and to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket.

Watch out for us next year
