The 2002 August Thoroughbred Sale at Oaklands Junction on the 23rd August features a strong catalogue of 210 mixed lots, featuring 79 broodmares, 16 yearlings, 11 unbroken stock and a large selection of 104 tried racehorses.
The broodmare section includes a host of mares by popular sires such as Bellotto (USA), Bletchingly, Century, Crown Jester, Don’t Say Halo (USA), Encosta de Lago, Marauding (NZ), Quest for Fame (GB), Rory's Jester, Rubiton, Scenic (IRE), Snippets, Star Way (GB), Straight Strike (USA), Western Symphony (USA) and Zephyr Zip, etc.
Also mares in foal to Danehill Dancer (IRE), Dangerous, Dracula, Jetball, Jeune (GB), Rubiton, and Success Express (USA), etc.
The bumper racehorse section includes a reduction of racing stock from the renowned Lindsay Park establishment, featuring 18 quality horses highlighted by: Lot 160, talented stakes-placed mare SWING A DEAL; Lot 153, nicely bred unraced three year old filly, WHAT WOMEN WANT, a half-sister to Group Two winner Honour the Name, by Spinning World (USA); Lot 162, CROWNED LOVE, winning full sister to Group Three winner Inspire; and Lot 166, SCARLAGLOW, a lightly raced stakes-placed three year old gelding.
The racehorse section also includes: Lot 132, SWEET CITY SIOUX, a Group Three placed daughter of top sire Chief's Crown (USA) and Lot 118, classy racemare YULA GOODNIGHT, a metropolitan winner of six races, more than $120,000 and twice placed fourth in Listed events.
Lightly raced four year old stallion, LENINGRAD, Lot 196, offers buyers some genuine stud potential, being by Danehill (USA) from the Alydar mare Alshandegha (USA), dam of nine winners including 1994 Horse of the Year, Mahogany.
Other handy gallopers include: stakes-placed Sort it Out and metropolitan winners Classic Surprise, Dapper Zap, Sedonic, Ooshku, etc.
