Bonuses
totaling $15,000 were handed out at Gosford races this afternoon when BOBS
produced a winning treble.
The NSW racing incentive scheme known as BOBS (Breeder Owner Bonus Scheme) had
three winners, with each galloper picking up a $5,000 bonus on top of the normal
prizemoney.
Cymbala (by Canny Lad) was the first bonus winner when the filly took out the
Moneywise Clients Maiden Handicap (1100m), following a successful protest
against the interim winner.
The second recipient of a BOBS $5,000 bonus was the connections of Secret
Rolling (by Secret Savings), who scored a strong win at only his second race
start in the Moneywise Ladies Maiden Handicap (1100m).
And finally, flying grey Zarouk (by Last Tycoon) became the first dual BOBS
bonus winner by taking out the David Loadsman Handicap (1100m).
Previously, Zarouk had run his rivals ragged at Hawkesbury a fortnight earlier
to claim a BOBS bonus and his $10,000 tally is looking pretty good for his
owners on a $660 outlay (BOBS nomination fee).
The eight individual BOBS bonus winners since the scheme commenced at the start
of this racing season, have picked up a combined total of $65,000 for
connections.
BOBS is open to NSW-trained three-year-olds whose sire is among the 44 stallions
nominated for the scheme. Racehorse nominations for BOBS close on Monday, 30
September 2002.
