 74. Irish Stakes Winner For Flying Spur

25/08/2002

The hard knocking Osterhase, a 3yo son of former Golden Slipper winner Flying Spur, was rewarded fore his recent consistent form with a half-length win in the Listed Ballygallon Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

FLYING SPUR
It was the second win in 13 starts for Osterhase (Flying Spur-Ostrusa by Rustan) who defeated the 8yo gelding One Won One (Naevus-Harvard's Bay by Halpern Bay) with 3yo filly Carallia (Common Grounds-Caraiyma by Shahrastani) a further half-length back in third.

There would be few racehorses in Ireland with a more cosmopolitan pedigree than Osterhase, by the Australian-bred Flying Spur out of an Austrian bred sister to the Graf Hugo Henkel Memorial (G2) winner Rustara by the Hungarian-bred Rustan out of the German-bred mare Ostara.
