Dual Group One winner Sudurka has been named the Super Vobis Horse of the Year for 2001-02.

The Salinger Stakes and Oakleigh Plate winner, prepared by Brian Mayfield-Smith and raced by his breeder Barry Taylor, is now standing at Waikato Stud in New Zealand. 

He beat a top field of candidates including Piavonic, North Boy, Ustinov, Desert Eagle, Intelligent Star, Royal Code, Rubitano, Grey Song, She's Archie and Mon Mekki. 

His success gave his sire Perugino three successive winners of the Super Vobis award after his brilliant son Testa Rossa won the award the previous two seasons.

David and Jenny Moodie's Contract Racing Syndicate continued its domination of the Super Vobis Owner of the Year and Breeder of the Year awards. 

Contract Racing has now won the last four breeding awards and five of the six owner awards. 

Mathew Ellerton, whose main client is Contract Racing, landed the Super Vobis Trainer of the Year award for the second season in succession.
