 45. Sunday Silence still critical

13/08/2002

Japan's leading sire, Sunday Silence, is still in a critical condition after developing laminitis.
Laminitis, a debilitating disease of the hoof can often result in a horse being euthanized and the Japanese vets are currently working overtime to save the stallion.

Sunday Silence who stands at Shadai Stallion Station in Hokkaido's Hayakita, has recently undergone three operations for an infection on his right foreleg and was progressing well until the laminitis appeared in his left foot.

Sunday Silence began stud duty in Japan in 1991 and has single handedly changed the face of Japanese racing.

He has been the leading sire at national level for the past eight years and currently has more than 300 progeny running in Japan Racing Association-sponsored races.
