Leading Victorian Stud Collingrove won two of the major awards at the Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria North East Branch Awards held at Mitchelton Winery, a stone's throw from Collingrove's Nagambie property, on Saturday night.

Former Collingrove shuttler Revoque, who's second crop are leading the way in Europe this year, won the award for being the Leading Freshman Sire.

That win was soon match by the efforts of the former Collingrove wondermare Biscay Bird who was crowned as the Broodmare of the Year.

Recently sold for a South Australian sales record price of $825,000, Biscay Bird is the dam of the brilliant multiple Group One winner Universal Prince, a horse sold under the Collingrove banner as a yearling.

The award win for Revoque extends a great start to 2002 for the son of Fairy King. He features in a Collingrove one-two in the race to be crowned as Europe's leading second crop sire of 2002.

Revoque's progeny have earned over £522,000 in the first half of the year, some £50,000 pounds clear of his nearest rival, who interestingly is Danehill Dancer, the rising star in Victoria's siring ranks.

Those two sires are leaving in their wake other exciting stud prospects like Desert King, Zamindar, Singspiel, Spinning World, Langfuhr, Entrepreneur, Woodborough, Bahamian Bounty and Octagonal in their wake in Europe on current prizemoney levels.

Danehill Dancer is one of seven exceptionally bred stallions who will be standing at Collingrove this season. The others are Bianconi, Favorite Trick, Marju, Perugino, Rory's Jester and Scenic.
