The two-day 2002 Autumn Yearling Sale held at Oaklands Junction concluded today with a total of 324 yearlings sold for an average price of $9,428 and gross sales totalling $3,054,750. The clearance rate climbed slightly on the second day, bringing the overall rate to 80%. Last year when the sale was held on one day 239 lots sold for a gross of $2,711,000 at an average of $11,343. 

Lot 366, a colt by With Class (USA), out of Constant Pressure, topped the sale at $60,000. The colt was offered by Sanctuary Lodge and knocked down to the bid of Pastore Pty Ltd. The royally bred With Class (USA) has commenced his stud career in fine fashion. He was the sire a very impressive winner at Sandown yesterday, Lady Sophia. Further cementing the sire’s popularity at this sale, the second top priced yearling was also by With Class (USA), sold for $46,000. 

On the first day on Sunday it was the last lot of the day, a half brother to the stakes winner Fracas by Perugino (USA), out of the Rory’s Jester mare Super Rory, which topped the session. The colt was offered by Armidale Stud, TAS and knocked down to the bid of Louise Bonella for $44,000.
