22/04/2002

The 2002 Autumn Yearling Sale commenced at Oaklands Junction today, with 204 of the 456 catalogued being offered. At the end of the first session, the sale is averaging $9,322 with a gross of $1,491,500.

Associate Director Peter Heagney commented, " In typical style this sale has followed suit to the majority of sales conducted throughout Australasia this year. There was better competition on the well conformed and presented yearlings offered today and vendors with realistic expectations were well rewarded."

The sale continues tomorrow with a further 207 lots on offer. Highlights include lots 366 & 444, two impressive colts by With Class; lot 323, a colt by Perugino out of Benbara Lady; lot 361, a filly by Jeune from the Group One placed mare Clearly Supreme.
