 35. Last Tycoon Celebrates Japanese Group One Win

16/04/2002

We’ve all heard the well worn saying "you can’t keep a good man down." Well in the case of Last Tycoon nothing could be closer to the truth.

The Blue Gum Farm based stallion is already widely regarded as one of the most successfully proven stallions in Australia and that was before he notched up a Group One winner in Japan last Sunday.

Despite starting as one of the outsiders in the Japanese Thousand Guineas (The Oka Sho) at Hanshin, Arrow Carry proved too strong, beating a top quality field by over a length in a powerful display.

With Kenichi Ikezoe in the saddle Arrow Carry proven much too strong for her 17 rivals which were headed by Blue Ridge River and Shinin' Ruby.

Arrow Carry's win gave local trainer Kenji Yamouchi his second win in the prestigious Group One event over 1600 metres.

A triple Group One winning Champion on the track Last Tycoon, a son of Try My Best, has now become a champion at stud around the world.

He is the sire of the Group One winners Mahogany, Bigstone, Ezzoud, Tycoon Lil, Lady Jakeo, Taipan, Knowledge, Tracy's Element, Magic of Money, O'Reilly, Marju, Poliuto, Lost World, Super Shiela, Lady of Chad, Tytola and now of course Arrow Carry.

Last Tycoon will again be standing the 2002 season at leading Victorian stud Blue Gum Farm near Euroa.
